Montreal, 1999-08-27. Canadian director Patricia Rozema whose latest movie `` Mansfield Park `` is opening the 1999 World Film Festival tonight in Montreal, was at the opening news conference of the 1999 World Film Festival.<br /> Born in Ontario (Canada) in 1958, she started her carreer at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and went on assisting film directors Don Owen on `` Unfinished business `` and Davis Cronenberg on `` The fly `` before doing her own movies. She attracted international attraction with her debut film ; `` I've heard the mermais singing `` .
