Thousands of VIPs; including Governor- and Prime Minister Lester Pearson; attended the cold and windy closing-day ceremony at Expo's Place des Nations where the official dais was appropriately banked with funereal flowers. A special ovation went to the Governor-General; who took pity on his shivering audience and laid aside his prepared speech. In view of the time and the temperature; he said; I shall ask your permission to file my words of wisdom in the archives of this great exhibiton; where they will rest unread through history. The fair closed at 4.30 p.m.
