Members of the U.S. Coast Guard Honor Guard, a drummer from the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Band, and the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) Caisson Platoon conduct modified military funeral honors with funeral escort for retired U.S. Coast Guard Rear Adm. Marshall E. Gilbert in Section 33 of Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, May 6, 2021. Gilbert was a distinguished leader in the U.S. Coast Guard and helped create the technical standards for electronic communications, navigation, and distress alerting used worldwide. Gilbert's spouse, Melinda Gilbert, received the flag from her husband's service.
