Born in Argentina, Juan Jos» Campanella worked in theatre and television production before emigrating to the United States where he studied film at the New York University. His thesis film, El contorsionista (1988), received prizes in New York and Clermont-Ferrand. He made his feature debut in 1991 with THE BOY WHO CRIED BITCH. Since then he has directed numerous television features, specials and series, in the process winning two Emmys. His feature credits include NOT EVEN THE FINAL SHOT (1998) and THE SAME LOVE, THE SAME RAIN (1999). He continues to direct in both Argentina and the U.S.
Campanella movie Son of the Bride (El Hijo de la Novia) is in the Official Competition of the 2001 Montreal World Film Festival.
