Computer cops:
Toronto Metro police Constable Brian Hopkins; foreground; and his partner Constable Joe Doyle use the mobile display terminal (MDT) in their cruiser to check a car's licence number. The video screen is only about 11 by 8 centimetres (4 1/4 by 3 1/4 inches); but can display 300 characters in 10 lines of information. It is set on a post on the cruiser's floor.
