On May 20, 2008, FRank Zampino announced that he would retire from politics during the summer after his 22-year career. His resignation took effect on July 2, 2008. [Executive Committee Vice-President Claude Dauphin succeeded him. <br />

A few months later he admitted ties with Tony Accurso who's company got major contract from the city for new water meters.
