CHALLENGES FOR THE QUEBEC INDUSTRY

This year, Gaz Métro is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary. Over the
years, the company has become a pillar of Quebec's energy sector. Today, with
$2.7 billion in assets and over 1,500 employees in Quebec, Gaz Métro continues
to pursue its traditional activities together with targeted growth.
Gaz Métro is the largest natural gas distributor in Quebec and one of the
largest in Canada. With some 167,000 commercial, institutional and residential
customers across Quebec, the company is a strategic player in the province's
economy.
In less than five years, Gaz Métro has made remarkable strides thanks to
its continuous improvement process. In November 2006, those achievements were
recognized with a Grand Prix québécois de la qualité (Quebec Quality Award) in
the major utility, corporation or corporate subsidiary category.
After ten years at the helm of Gaz Métro, on February 7 president and CEO
Robert Tessier will take on a new challenge: he will become the company's chairman.
Mr. Tessier share his thoughts on the major economic changes and challenges facing Quebec companies and society.
