Pushing and punching: A first-period scrap got the Leaf game last night off to a rambunctious start. In one bout, Leafs' defenceman John Gibson, centre, wrestles Ryan Walter of the Capitals to the ice. In another fight, Leafs' Terry Martin battled Dennis Maruk. Capitals' Rick Green was ejected from the game as the third man in. All this occurred at just 3:55 of the first period. Others close to the heat of the action were Bob McGill and Don Luce.
