Born in Rome in 1955, Alessandro D'Alatri made his showbusiness debut at the age of eight acting in a production of The Cherry Orchard directed by Luchino Visconti. Before long, he was a veteran, playing roles in the theatre, on television and in the movies. The latter included roles in De Sica's GARDEN OF THE FINZI-CONTINIS and films by Valerio Zurlini and Ettore Scola. He began directing commercials and eventually became one of Italy's top directors of advertising films, earning prizes worldwide. He made his directorial debut in features with AMERICANO ROSSO (1991), which won that year's David di Donatello Prize for best first film in Italy. His 1994 feature, NO SKIN, was shown at the Montreal World Film Festival, and he directed THE GARDEN OF EDEN in 1998. <br />
